Mom’s Turn and You
Have you ever worked hard all day then realized you aren’t able to cross one item off your to-do list? You spent the entire day responding to other people’s needs instead of your own? That’s called being a mother! We respond to the needs of everyone else and our own needs are last!
Finally, your kids get to an age where they can take care of themselves a bit… (sometime around 32 years old…right?!)—they are in school all day or doing other activities and you finally have time to think about what is important for your fulfilment beyond your family. I see family as the #1 priority — but soon it gets to be Mom’s Turn to focus on her life and continued development.
That is where I come in — Alicia Berberich. I help mom’s figure out what they want to do for their next act. I use a spiritually based program to uncover your particular gifts and strengths. Then we figure out what gives you a real sense of joy—because when you are using your gifts, you are connecting with your true self and the result of this connection is joy. We work on creating a path for you that you can achieve given all your other priorities — the goal is a balanced life grounded in understanding the big picture.
If you are looking to achieve more in your life, to find your path and build a fulfilling life and you want some outside support to make it all possible, you will find my resources very helpful.
Mom’s Turn is a multi-step process. First, we uncover your particular gifts and strengths. Next, we look at what you have done in your life that you found personally fulfilling. Then we look at what activities give you a sense of joy, then we put it all together. That is the First Segment of the program.
The Second Segment of the program involves looking at where you want to be in 5 years time. We use various processes including meditation, visualization. Once you have a clear idea, we work backwards — if this is what you want in 5 years, then what do you need to accomplish by the end of year 4, 3, 2, 1 to make that happen. We build goals to accomplish this in the 6 main areas of your life: Personal, Financial, Health, Career, Spiritual and Community.
And we end this segment with an Action Plan to achieve your goals.
We all know the best-laid plans get thrown out the window when faced with the reality of kids, husband, dog, laundry, cooking, shopping, etc. To deal with staying on track for your own success, we have the Third Segment — MasterMind Groups to help us continue the journey. These groups meet once a month either in person if you are local, in San Francisco Bay Area, or via Skype. These groups give you a chance to report our successes and challenges and receive continued support from the group. Groups have a “gestalt” effect where the sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. This is a really effective accountability process that will keep you on track and motivated and help you find solutions for your particular challenges.
And if you are wondering about me, I have three teenagers — twin girls, Audrey and Madeleine and a son, Marlowe, a yellow Labrador named Axel. My mom lives with us, wherever we might be living. We have just returned from 2 years in Paris, France. My husband Gunnar is a superstar. I feel really blessed to do this work that I love. I also teach water aerobics at the Presidio YMCA — so if you want to see me in a bathing suit, that is the place !
