Dreaming of Miracle Mornings…
In the meantime, please pass the Cheerios.
And the milk.
Have you been hearing about these “miracle mornings” as much as I have lately? It’s from the best-selling book of the same name by Hal Elrod. It’s made me think about what a miracle morning is for me. Hal’s idea for a miracle morning includes getting up at 5 (or even 4) am, meditating, saying affirmations, doing visualizations, exercising, and reading. Do all that in an hour, so 12 minutes each (or say 10 minutes with 2 minutes transition time). People have fallen in LOVE with his concept of the miracle morning and feel energized after they complete their Life SAVERs routine. (The S is for the silence of the meditation!)

I meditate each morning and it is very grounding and centering. I don’t follow the other steps in Hal’s routine. Although they sound divine, I’m going to bet that Hal isn’t running a household with three kids, an absent-minded mother, a dog, and a spouse who need to be out of the house by 7.

For me the idea of a miracle morning looks more like me waking up leisurely at 5:30, brushing my teeth, meditating for 20 minutes, then visualizing a fresh hot cup of English breakfast tea with milk appearing on my nightstand, which I coddle and sip down. Then I slip into the latest Robert Galbraith mystery for 20 minutes before breaking for a shower and shampoo. After completing my beauty routine, breakfast calls. Delicious yogurt with chopped apricots and pecans folded in. That feels like a miracle morning to me. That sounds like Mother’s Day. Or even an occasional Sunday!

I think the first time I had tea in bed when I wasn’t sick, was in Sweden when I was visiting my future husband’s family. It was my first time there and Gunnar’s dad, Tage, brought us tea and sandwiches in bed! It was divine! Such a gift! Tage died just before Christmas at 91 years of age. Must have been all of the tea that led to his long life.

The thing is—you have to know what a miracle morning is for you! What is your dream day? If you don’t know, it’s worth the time to think about it so that when it does happen, you will recognize it and appreciate it. When someone brings me tea in bed, the tea is extra delicious! Those are my favorite mornings! It’s like starting the day with a small miracle!

Have a great Monday!

Have a great week!
