From Chaos to Calm

It’s mayhem here. It’s Monday Morning Mayhem. The big thing motivating me today is that next Monday is a holiday in the USA. Next Monday is Labor Day. I love a holiday! Today is Gunilla’s birthday. Happy Birthday Gunilla!

Mayhem. Mayhem means never a dull moment… or perhaps a better definition is chaos. Well, it’s not really chaos…just mayhem. And it’s escalating this week.

In spite of all that’s happening (I will not bore you with the details!), I feel relatively calm. I know this is solely due to my meditation practice. Every morning 20 minutes minimum. Really meditation has changed my life. Or at least changed my central nervous system. I’m not feeling frazzled and normally under these conditions I would feel that way.

Meditation is a state of restful awareness. Sleep is restful unawareness. That’s according to Deepak Chopra, whom I heard speak while I was in Paris. For me, meditation is a tiny vacation for my brain. It rejuvenates and refreshes me. It manages to elongate my fuse (which, when you have three teenagers, is a good thing!). It grounds me.

Funny how when you yourself are changing, you don’t notice for a while, but when others around you are changing, you notice right away. When my husband started meditating, I saw the changes right away… I mean, not the exact day he started, but fairly soon afterwards. Then I began to see the changes in myself. Meditation is a gift that you can give yourself.

To help share this gift with you, I am offering a 21 day Motivating Meditation Challenge. It’s a free program and the goal is to help you start a mediation practice. Because it is a practice, like yoga, like medicine. My goal is to help you reach 20 minutes of daily meditation. We will start out slowly, with 5 minutes, and build up to 20 minutes. The benefits will far outweigh the costs in term of time for you.

If you are interested in joining the program, just respond YES! to this email and I will add you to the list! Also, if you have friends or family who might like to build a meditation practice, they can join in too! Just send me their email and I will add them

What you’ll get are 4 emails before the start of the program. One explains different types of mediations and the type we’ll be doing. The second goes into the benefits of meditations. And the third is a log so you can monitor your progress. You’ll also receive an email on Sept. 9 to make sure you are all set up for the 10th since I recommend meditating BEFORE you check your emails Then on Sept. 10, we will start with Day 1, so you’ll get a motivational email (short…) and you will receive one each of the 21 days. At the end you will get a Certificate of Completion. We will build slowly from 5 minutes to 20 minutes.

If you are in, just ping me back! If not, please let me know why not! I’m just curious! Do you already have a practice? You equate meditation with quackery? What’s your story?

Thanks! Have a GREAT week! I’ll be unloading my container from Paris!

Best,

Alicia

See? We all have days like that…  (notice sign in the police car window!)
