You start a new project full of enthusiasm and commitment. You are gung-ho to finish this project. Maybe it’s an online course, maybe it’s a book, maybe it’s the laundry… the story is the same… you begin…full of energy… then it gets challenging. You have to work at it. Or maybe you just get bored with it and want to do something else. Whatever the case, you never finish the project. The laundry sits unfolded… the book is partially read, 3 dirty dishes are still on the counter.

The difference between high achievers and the rest of us is that high achievers finish projects. They don’t let them hang over them for EVER. They finish them up and cross them off their list. They are like pit bulls with getting projects done. You want to say, “lighten up!” But they never will. That’s not the way of the ninja warrior of high achievement.

I work toward completion on my projects because I know this tidbit about high achievers. It’s something that definitely takes work, focus, commitment. For me, the big push is for my kids. I want them to be finishers. I want them to reap the reward that comes from finishing a project–getting that thing off their plate.

The Finishers, those are the ones with GRIT. Tenacity, endurance, commitment, determination, drive… all those characteristics that lead one to be a Finisher.

Where are you on the grit scale?

Here is the link to Angela Duckworth’s grit scale. It’s a simple test. Take it and find out. Test your kids. See what you think.

So this week, why not finish a few projects and see how great that feels. Even if you pick ONE and just GET IT DONE you will be on your way to the top!

Have a great week!
