The Focus is on YOU.

Your # 1 Thing.

Are you thinking City Slickers? I am!

This is a time of transition…moving from summer mode into fall mode…from bright colors to jewel tones (listen to me, the fashionista of motivation!)… from lax days, back to the tightly orchestrated schedules. It’s the time of new notebooks, calendars, and clothes!

As your focus changes from the dog days of summer to “Rentrée” as they say in France, or for the USA, Back-to-School, even though some of you are not returning to school, it’s an excellent time to think about what you want to accomplish for the last bit of this year. With 4 months left, you can accomplish big things!

A key consideration that can make all the difference in your year, is knowing your # 1 priority. What is the #1 thing that you want to be able to say you accomplished during these next 4 months? By consciously know what your #1 thing is, you can put all your energy toward that and really get it done. Make an explicit decision on what it is that is your priority during this time.

Speaking of time, a great fallacy exists that many people believe: time is money. How often have you heard that? Too often, considering it’s WRONG.

The thing about money is, you can have and spend it and get more of it. You can lose all of it, and then earn more to replace it. Money is a “renewable resource”.

Time is not. Once you use up your time, you’re done. You had 4 years of high school. Maybe you didn’t do the things you wish you had. You cannot relive those days. Same with college, work, life. You have a one-way ticket. If you make the wrong choices, you live with the consequences. Time is your most precious resource. Do you treat it that way? Are you happy with how you spend your time? Are you getting what you want?

How you spend your time is a choice. You can work out or you go to dinner or you can work late… How do you decide? Because “do-overs” are not a choice.

By knowing what your #1 thing is, you can focus your time and effort toward that. You can make a conscious decision about how you use your time instead of leaving it to chance, or to someone else to decide how you will spend your time.

Time is your most limited natural resource. You need to respect your time as well as others time. Wasting time is wasting your life and that would be a terrible loss.

The good news here: you can decide for you! Just follow these three simple steps:

  • What is your priority?
  • What can you do TODAY to move forward to achieving that?
  • What is the #1 thing you can do tomorrow to continue your momentum?

Small steps taken consistently, can move mountains. Be a mountain mover! Focus your energy! It’s like a laser! When you focus, the power is exponential!
