Have you set your goals for this year?

If you have, unless you’re a part of the 8% of people who actually achieve the goals you’ve decided upon, you’ve probably already given up on yours.

I’m here to tell you IT’S NOT TOO LATE!!!

I had a huge breakthrough this week and it’s been a game-changer.

I’ve read all the books. I know all the methods. The odds of me learning something novel are pretty small. I’ve been teaching goal setting for over 10 years. It’s my thing.

But KNOWING and DOING are on different ends of the spectrum of life. You can know intellectually how to win an Olympic Gold Medal, but actually do it is a horse of a different color.

Same thing with goal achievement.

This is why the same goals appear on your list YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER year.

This is a definite clue that something is wrong.

The desire is there, but the strategy or the tactics are out of sync.

What you need to do is figure out the one thing that will move the dial.

Then I discovered the magical force that helps you to achieve your goals.

The Magical Force That Changes Everything

The magical force that helps you achieve your goals is leverage.

Yes. Leverage. Don’t try to accomplish something huge from the start. Begin by accomplishing something very small and manageable. Once that’s accomplished, you can move to something a little bit bigger. The power of achieving the small goal supports you to achieve an even larger goal.

But you have to build momentum. If you start too big, you get discouraged if the situation doesn’t change fast enough.

For me, I tried to add 30 minutes of exercise to my day. BC (before Covid) I exercised regularly. Now… with the cold weather and the pool out of commission, blah. Just not feeling it. I was told that laps in the hot tub didn’t count. 30 minutes on the Elliptical would be good. But… no momentum. But my body was sore from sitting at my desk working all day. I had to do something.

I tried 1 downward dog. It’s easier than a plank. I don’t have to change my clothes. I can do it anywhere. (Not like I’m going places…) It stretches out my legs and back and feels good.

Been on a regular schedule now! And, get this, I doubled my number! Yes! I went from 1 to 2! Now I do one in the morning and one in the evening. Can’t wait to see what happens this week! I even looking forward to them!

When you accomplish something, it sets off a chain reaction that energizes you to accomplish even more. Just like dominoes falling can move 1.5 x their weight, so too can you move more than you think by just getting started.

So look at your goals. Make the starting point as small as possible. Stick with that and see if you don’t get motivated to take your game to the next level! Small steps in the right direction every day lands you where you want to go.

Hey loyal readers! My daughter Audrey has started a fashion blog on Instagram. It’s @style.by.audrey

Please check out her site and follow her! She just started last week and would love to have more followers! Also, if you have any friends in the 20 something range, they are perfect for Audrey’s site! But her recommendations are good for all.

Thanks for your support!
