I started setting goals when I was in high school. It was St. Rose Academy. Catholic. Nuns. The full schlameel. The school offered a five-week whirlwind trip to Europe in the summer, supervised by the nuns. Sounds like a good time, right? Wouldn’t YOU want to tour Europe on a bus with nuns?

I wanted to go MORE THAN ANYTHING. But I knew there was NO WAY my parents would pay for such a trip. So, I knew that if I wanted to go, I would have to make it happen on my own. I had to save enough money for the trip and spending money. That was my goal.

At first, I thought it would be impossible to save that much money. But I did a reframe, because I realized I had three years to do it in. I became relentlessly focused.

I saved everything I earned doing party help, babysitting, house cleaning, garden watering… whatever someone needed; I would work hard and save the money.

I watched my savings account grow each year and set my income goal for the upcoming year.

I learned the power of setting goals, evaluating my progress, and staying on a path. I used all of my manifesting skills to make that happen. (Even though, at the time, I didn’t realize I was manifesting…)…

Over the years, I’ve led many workshops on goal setting, and each year, I found new tactics and strategies to make the program more comprehensive.

I found people got stuck listening to the negative voice in their heads. That voice that says they can’t do it that they are too dumb, or not strong enough, or they will never make it.

By REFRAMING that negative message and finding ways to make it possible, I could see the joy in people’s eyes. Their goal WAS possible, and we were going to find a way to make it so.

Overcoming limiting beliefs and finding a way for people to accomplish their big, hairy, audacious goals is exciting work.

And here’s the secret:

  • When you do hard things, you feel great about your accomplishments!
  • You learn that you have the agency to create the life you want.
  • You learn that you can do hard things, have fun, and grow and develop new strengths, that your grit pays off, and that you can do more.

Plus, being able to identify and overcome that negative voice in your head is empowering!

The sooner you learn to recognize that negative voice and learn to acknowledge it, appreciate it, tune it down, and step forward into action, the sooner you will become empowered to do more in your life— to dream bigger dreams!

Because you have the power to move mountains.

It just takes getting started.

As the goal-setting time of the year draws closer, it’s the perfect time to limber up and get ready to defy the negative voice!

Reframing

Reframing is a game-changer. I cannot begin to tell you how powerful it is.

Reframing shifts your perspective and defies the green, wart-covered troll who tries to sabotage your goals.

Let’s look at recognizing the negative voice and what to do when it whispers to you.

Changing “I Have to” into “I Get to”

It’s a cold, rainy morning. You have planned to hit the gym early as your “inspired action” to your fitness goal. It’s still dark out. It’s cold. The voice whispers, “I have to go to the gym. Can’t I just curl up on the couch and read my book instead?”

You’ve heard it before, haven’t you?

Maybe at times when you have to… go to the gym

Or you have to tackle a challenging task.

It’s time for the reframe! Time to overcome that saboteur.

You don’t have to go to the gym. You get to go to the gym. You decided that this is your year to get in shape. You look forward to wearing that cute sundress this summer. You look forward to feeling good and not embarrassed or ashamed about your body.

To work on your goal is a privilege. Every goal is a privilege. It’s not an obligation but an invitation to shape the life you desire. You get to do this.

This is Your Cue

That negative voice attempting to control your decisions often whispers,  “I have to (do this or that)” when you’re pursuing a goal or stepping out of your comfort zone.

Instead of succumbing to its influence, you can defy it.

Notice your cue and break free from your limitations.

As the New Year approaches, this defiance becomes a powerful weapon against the sabotaging negative inner voice.

This year, the stage is set for a transformative journey. This is the time to confront the demon within, dismantle its negative voice, and clear the path to fulfilling your potential. It’s an opportunity to redefine your narrative, set goals, and take charge of your destiny.

Your goals are within reach when you reframe and find the right mindset. You have the power to manifest extraordinary things.

If you don’t believe me, why not try to manifest some little goals to build your manifesting muscle? What is something little you would like to receive? Perhaps you want to receive a free book, connect with an old friend, or find the perfect red lipstick. Pick something, focus on receiving that, and see what happens.

Be sure to report back!

Once you learn to recognize that negative voice in your head and reframe the negative message into a message of hope and strength, you will start doing hard things daily. Because you are stronger than you give yourself credit for, and you can achieve big goals. This is YOUR YEAR to break free of the shackles that have limited your potential.

This is YOUR YEAR to be UNSTOPPABLE.
