If you want your life to be different, you have to do things differently.

Tired of feeling out of shape?
Get off the sofa.

Tired of not having energy to do anything?
Stop eating sugar.

Tired of looking for things you can’t find?
Clear out your overload of stuff.

And that’s what today’s message is about: releasing stuff so you can embark on a new journey.

Releasing your old mindset is the place to start.

You might be saying to yourself, “I’ve hate to let go of things because I know as soon as I throw it out, I’m going to wish I had it. I’m going to need it.”

Or you might be saying, “I paid good money for that so I can’t just donate it to charity.”

Or maybe your line is, “I am saving these for the memories attached to them.”
I don’t care what story you are telling yourself about why you live in a cluttered mess. Whatever it is, it’s a story. And you, my dear friend, have the power to change the story.

YOU are writing the story, so change the ending to something you would prefer instead. Why not release all those old clothes because someone else would love them and could wear them since you haven’t worn them IN YEARS.

And if you do lose the weight so they fit again, aren’t you going to want to celebrate with something NEW anyway?  I mean REALLY…. A new you deserves a new outfit.

Why not release those old papers that you are keeping for unknown reasons (“just in case”) for the sole purpose that they are a fire hazard. Or because you want to fill your mind with NEW thoughts. Or because, as Steven Pressfield wrote, Nobody wants to read your sh*t. LET-IT-GO!

My husband Gunnar always reminds me about the sunk costs. You’ve already PAID for whatever it is you’re thinking of getting rid of but aren’t because it’s paid for. It’s a fallacy. Because you are STILL paying for it with mental energy that would be better used on something else.

Free you energy. Free your mind. Free your space. Be all you can be. Don’t let the weight of past decisions moor you to old ways of being.

This is YOUR one and only precocious life (thank you Mary Oliver). Release the weight of stuff and free yourself to be all you can be.

And when you do, when you feel restored, energized, liberated, full of vitality, alive for the first time in years— remember. YOU DO HARD THINGS AND THRIVE. YOU ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE. YOU ARE SUPER WOMAN.

And don’t bloody forget that.
Ever.
