Tennis anyone?

I love to play tennis! I have always loved to play tennis. In fact, I rarely actually play tennis. I take tennis lessons. I am much more comfortable taking lessons. For some reason, it is o’kay to be a learner and make mistakes than to be a player and make mistakes.

I teach an English Conversation class here in Paris. The people who attend love to speak English.  But most of them only speak English in class! They don’t dare to speak outside of class because they might make a mistake.

How are we ever going to learn if we are afraid to make mistakes? A mistake is just a piece of information so we know one more thing that doesn’t work. Mistakes are OK! It is better to make a mistake than to not try at all! The more mistakes we make, the faster we learn! We should get points for mistakes because at least then we are in the arena learning and trying. If you never make mistakes, it is not because you are perfect…it is because you are not trying! So MAKE MORE MISTAKES! The more mistakes you make in life, the further you will go!

Let’s cheer on our mistakes!

Set bright lines!

The lines determine success or failure. If you don’t have lines in your life, how do you know how you are doing?
