Here Comes March Madness– Alicia Style

I hope you thoroughly enjoyed February and cleared out an untold amount of stuff from your home, office, garage, and basement…. EVERYWHERE!

That allows the natural energy around you to flow more easily so you can do new things.

And that is EXACTLY the energy I want you to have in MARCH!

(Did you miss the Clear Your M.E.S.S. Challenge? You can sign up here for the 27 days of prompts and support.)

I’m not talking about literal BABIES! No no no. We are WAY beyond THAT stage of life… unless you are thinking grandchild…

The new energy I want you to have is:

CONNECTION, COMMUNITY, CAMARADERIE.

MARCH is the MIX AND MINGLE month.

Winter tends to be a time of hibernation. You hang out at home and sit by the fire while the weather does its thing.

But now buds are bursting on the trees, bulbs are popping out of the ground, and new life is everywhere.

Including in your heart.

It’s time for YOU to get out of your house and make an EFFORT to mix and mingle with others. With real people. In real situations where you have to actually speak to people, practice verbalizing things instead of typing. Put on lipstick. Do something with your hair (even if that is to put it under a hat!).

  • You’ve DONE the Intermittent Fasting challenge of January.
  • You excelled at the physical detox of February.
  • Now comes March…

The March Challenge is to get out and connect or reconnect with old friends, make new friends, try new places, and do some things DIFFERENTLY.

Now, I know it can be scary to talk to strangers, but just wipe that mindset clean. You are not talking to strangers. You are going to talk to your neighbors, the person standing behind you in line at the grocery store, the person you pass while you’re walking…

Start small and expand.

Don’t get tripped up in your head about this.

What’s a few phone calls?

What’s a coffee date?

What’s wrong with smiling at someone and saying hi?

NADA.

You can do this.

Starting March 1.

If you’re in my water aerobics class, ask someone out for coffee. Or meet for lunch. I’m NOT talking about Kim and Ellen or Anita and Skye. They ALREADY do that! I’m talking about someone NEW.

By the end of March, I want you to send me a MINIMUM of 10 people you have connected or reconnected with. Easy peasy. (I wanted to say 20, so if you get to 20, you will be a SUPERHERO!!!)

This is about YOU getting out of your comfort zone (which is a pretty boring, isolating place to hang out) and making a tiny effort to connect with another human being.

It’s possible, right?!!!

Right now, today, make a list of 50 people you can connect with. Make the list as long as possible. Keep adding… don’t be limited by the # 50… keep going.

If you need people and can’t think of any, go to the library and talk to a stranger about the book s/he is reading.

It’s about connection.

Maybe you join the thriller book club at the library.

Maybe you invite 10 people over to learn to cook something new.

DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

DO SOMETHING YOU HAVEN’T DONE BEFORE.

MAKE AN EFFORT!!!!!

(I’m sure I’ve told you that when I went to copywriting school, the boss told me I had already used up my lifetime supply of exclamation points. He would go crazy editing this! Oh well… I’m excited about ideas!)

I asked you what you wanted, and SO MANY PEOPLE said they need community connection and contact. Now the connection is up to YOU. So go do it!

And report back here EVERY week!

(Oh GAWD…. I am crazy shy, and now I have to do this as well… geez you guys… honestly… couldn’t you have said you wanted more recipes???? It had to be friends… community… connection…)

So you aren’t alone. You can do this. I will do this.

Oh, there is this crazy book about a guy who wants to get better at rejection. It’s called:

Rejection Proof: How I Beat Fear and Became Invincible through 100 Days of Rejection by Jia Jiang.

He has some great stories!

If you have any questions, hit reply and get back to me.

EXCUSES

Being shy or introverted or whatever excuse you’re thinking of giving me is a bucket with holes in it. You can do it.

Now, send this to TEN friends and ask them to join you so that they don’t think you’re NUTS!

(Plus, that will really help me to grow my email list, which would be amazing!)

Also, a bunch of new podcasts are coming out next week where I am the guest speaker and I will be forwarding you the links, so watch for those! Who doesn’t LOVE to listen to me speaking about motivation and manifesting?
